Outlook 2007 Shared Mailbox Configuration

To set up a separate shared mailbox within your Exchange folder list, follow the instructions below.

Open your Outlook 2007 Exchange mailbox.

1. Choose Tools, then Account Settings .

2. On the following screen choose Change.

3. Choose More Settings .

4. On the next screen click on the Advanced tab.

6. Click the Add button.

7. Type in the shared mailbox name (resource0123 for example).

8. Click OK and then Apply and OK again. You will be asked to logon. Make sure the user name is UConn\Netid (your netid).

Then close out. You will now see the shared mailbox as part of your folder list.

Note: If you set up a shared mailbox in this way you MUST put in the resource name in the From field when sending out a new message. If you don't, the message will show as coming from your personal e-mail address. Also, all sent mail (no matter whose name is in the from field) will be put in your personal sent items mailbox.
