Outlook 2003 Functional Account IMAP Configuration
Outlook can be used to access Exchange using secure IMAP
Follow the steps below to configure a functional account in Outlook to use IMAP with UConn's Exchange server.
1. Right click on the Microsoft Outlook icon on your desktop.
2. Click Show Profiles.
3. Click Add.
4. Type the functional account name as the Profile name and click OK.
5. Choose IMAP, then click Next
6. Fill in the e-mail accounts window
- Your Name: name of resource (i.e. what you want to be displayed in the e-mail "from" field)
- E-mail Address: Your functional account e-mail address (i.e. huskydog@uconn.edu)
- Incoming Mail Server: exchange.uconn.edu
- Outgoing Mail Server: smtp.uconn.edu. Click here for more information.
- User name: uconn\NetID (abc01001)\resource0123
- Password: Your Exchange/NetID password
Note: If you are configuring this from home, you must put in your ISP providers smtp name in the outgoing mail server.
7. Click on More Settings type in UConn Exchange as the account Name, then click on the Advanced tab.
8. Type in 993 as the server port number, then put a check on This server requires a secure connection (SSL) for the Incoming Server (IMAP).
9. Click OK.
10. Click Next, then click Finish.
11. You will receive the message that your account has been successfully set up.
Outlook will now be set up to use IMAP with UConn's Exchange server.
