Outlook Express IMAP Configuration

Outlook Express can be used to access Exchange using secure IMAP

How do I set up a Shared Mailbox using Outlook Express?

Follow the steps below to configure Outlook Express to use IMAP with UConn's Exchange server.

  1. Open Outlook Express, click on the Tools menu and choose Accounts.

  2. In the Internet Accounts message box click on Add, then select Mail.

  3. In the display name box type in your full name then click Next.

  4. In the Internet E-mail address screen type in your UConn Personal Name Address (first.last@uconn.edu) then click Next.

  5. In the E-mail Server Names screen type in the following information, then click Next:
    • My incoming mail server: Select IMAP
    • Incoming mail server: exchange.uconn.edu
    • Outgoing Mail Server: smtp.uconn.edu.
  1. In the Internet Mail Logon screen type in uconn/NetID (uconn/abc01001) and password. Make sure to check the Log on using Secure Password Authentication (SPA) box. Then click Next.

  2. Click Finish.

Outlook Express will now be set up to use IMAP with UConn's Exchange server.
