Mac Spam Filtering: Mail
MS Entourage | Apple Mail | Eudora
Mail can analyze the contents of incoming messages and identify which ones are likely to be junk mail. You can help Mail identify the right messages as junk mail by marking messages as junk or not junk.
When you start using Mail, it's in training mode. Any message that appears to be junk will be colored in the Inbox.
| To turn on junk mail filtering, choose Mail > Preferences and click Junk Mail. Select Enable junk mail filtering. Deselect this option to turn off filtering.

To set junk mail filtering to training mode, choose Mail > Preferences and click Junk Mail. Choose Leave it in my Inbox, but indicate it is junk mail (Training) in the When junk mail arrives section. When Mail is correctly identifying most of your junk mail, choose Move it to the Junk mailbox (Automatic) to switch to automatic mode.
To use junk filtering programs installed by your UConn's Exchange server, select Trust junk mail headers set by my Internet service provider. If UConn's filters detects that a message is junk, it inserts the header X-Spam-Flag into the message. Mail looks for this header, marks the message as junk, and applies whatever actions you have specified under the Advanced section. |
