Eudora IMAP Configuration: Windows

Beginning with version 5.1 Eudora can be used to access Exchange using secure IMAP

The instructions below were created using version 6.1.2. You can download a free version here.

Note: UITS Technicians will assist in the installation of Eudora as an IMAP e-mail client only. Further Support will be from other sources such as http://www.eudora.com/techsupport/win/ for windows users and http://www.eudora.com/techsupport/mac/ for Macintosh users.

Follow the steps below to configure Eudora to use IMAP with UConn's Exchange server.

  1. Open Eudora, go to the Tools menu, and choose Options.

  3. Click Getting Started and fill in your information:
    • Real Name: Your full name
    • Return address: Your UConn Personal Name address
    • Mail Server (Incoming): exchange.uconn.edu.
    • Login Name: uconn\NetID (uconn\abc01001)
    • SMTP Server (Outgoing): smtp.uconn.edu. Click here for more information.

  4. Click on Checking Mail and fill in the following information if not already completed:
    • Mail Server: exchange.uconn.edu
    • Login name: uconn\Your NetID
    • Secure Sockets When Receiving: Select- Required, Alternet Port

  5. Click on Incoming Mail, and select IMAP for Server configuration. Type in exchange.uconn.edu for IMAP mailbox location prefix:

    Note: If you are using a paid/licensed copy of Eudora you will NOT need to enter the IMAP mailbox location prefix.

  7. Click OK,
  8. Type in your Exchange/NetID password and click OK.

Eudora will now be set up to use IMAP with UConn's Exchange server.
