Microsoft Entourage for Mac & Exchange 2007 Migration

Exchange server address field must be changed after migration to new server.

Overview

With the migration of UITS' central Exchange email server from 2003 to 2007 several changes in features and functionality have been introduced. In lieu of these server changes, the actual server address that most current Entourage clients use to connect to the UITS' Exchange server must be changed as well.

 

Effect

The effect is until a change in the the server address field of Entourage is updated, all current Microsoft Entourage for the Mac users who are connected to UITS' central Exchange email server will be unable to download email, contacts and calendars after migration of their account to the new Exchange 2007 server.

 

Impact

This effects all campus Microsoft Entourage for the Macintosh (versions 2004 and 2008) users who are currently configured and then migrated over to the new Exchange 2007 server on/after March 2009.

 

Resolution

UITS has provided instructions for both an automated/scripted fix for these changes or steps for manually configuring the changes needed. Click the link below for the method that works best for you.

Automated Fix
Run UITS' automated script to make the required changes to Entourage's server address field automatically.
Download the Entourage-Exchange 2007 script to your Macintosh. The file will download to your defined downloads directory, most commonly the Downloads folder in your home folder or Dock

Expand the entourage07exfix.zip file by double-clicking the downloaded file.

Run the script by double-clicking the entourage07exfix application that appears.

When prompted, confirm your UConn email address in the dialog that appears.

On successful completion, the script with confirm your address has been changed to:

exchange.uconn.edu/exchange/first.last@uconn.edu

Congratulation, you have successfully reconfigured your Entourage client to the new Exchange 2007 server settings.

Manual Fix
Follow the steps below to manually change the server address field of Entourage to match the new UITS' Exchange server location.
Launch Microsoft Entourage from the /Applications folder on your Mac's hard drive.

Click on the Entourage menu item and select the Account Settings... command.

In the window that appears, double-click the email account for your campus email.

From the Account Settings tab that opens, select the Exchange server field and enter the following address:

exchange.uconn.edu/exchange/first.last@uconn.edu

where first.last is your first and last name as indicated in your campus email address)

Click the OK button to save the account settings and you are done reconfiguring your Entourage client to the new Exchange 2007 server settings.
