Setting up Mail: Mac OS 10.3

Follow the steps below to use Apple Mail with UConn's Exchange server.

1. Go to the Mail menu and select the Preferences command

2. Switch to the Accounts section at the top of the window. Click the "+" icon in the lower-left corner of the window to create a new e-mail account.

3. In the Accounts Information on the right-hand side of the window, enter the following information:

Account Type: Exchange
Description: UConn Exchange Account
Email Address: first.last@uconn.edu
Full Name: first name
Incoming Mail Server: exchange.uconn.edu
User Name: Your NetID
Outgoing Mail Server: smtp.uconn.edu
Outlook Web Access Server: exchange.uconn.edu

4. Switch to the Advanced tab and set the following options:

Checked Use SSL
Port 993

5. Switch to the Composing section listed at the top of the window. A dialog will appear asking you to save your changes (click Save). Once in the Composing section, ensure the format selected is set to Plain Text. Activate the option to Automatically complete addresses, click the Configure LDAP button, click the "+" button in the lower-left corner, and enter the following information:

Name UConn LDAP
Server ldap.uconn.edu
Search Base dc=uconn,dc=edu
Port 389
Scope Subtree

6. Close the Preferences window and check to ensure that your Exchange account folders show up in drawer to the left or right of the Mail's main message viewer.
